all in a day's worth

Today I perused the handmade zines in the Degraves St subway store called Sticky where I discovered a beautifully illustrated 40 page zine titled 'all in a day's worth'. It is so beautifully made and illustrated I couldn't believe it was only $8.50! Purchase made!

I have spied a blog address on the back cover, so you can pop by to see some other work by the talented Melbourne artist and zine maker Dawn Tan.

patchwork

I love this patchwork, one day I'm going to make one made entirely from feedsacks. I keep my eye out on ebay from time to time waiting to buy a great vintage stash.

Have you ever made a feedsack quilt? Or perhaps you have found one across your travels? If you have photos of your vintage feedsack quilt please leave a comment and a link to let us come and take a peek : )

Thank you to everyone who has left a comment to enter my mystery giveaway, I think Handsome Steve is going to need some extra coffee cup friends!

sound the trumpets - it's a mystery giveaway

Now that title certainly sounds impressive! I thought it would be nice to have a little giveaway, it's a mystery package so I can't give away what you will find inside...

The above image is one of Mairuru's quilted furoshiki, Mairuru has kindly written a great post on how to sew your own furoshiki on her blog. And although you won't be receiving the above furoshiki, I will be making one just for my mystery giveaway to wrap all the goodies in!!

I'll be pulling the winner's name out of the Handsome Steve's coffee cup on May 1st and my giveaway is open to both Australian and International bloggers.

So if you are tempted to put your name in for the opportunity to receive my mystery package you just need to leave a comment with this post to say Hi!

More furoshiki goodness over here!

paumes

Today I received a parcel from my friend Allison, inside were five Paumes books neatly wrapped with some Belle & Boo wrapping paper. They looked so pretty I had to take a photo!

I'm tempted to wait to open them tomorrow, when I can pick up the new Frankie magazine and then I'll be in printed pages bliss!

makers market

Do you ever find that some days you are attracted to a particular colour without even realising it?! Yesterday was such a day, hmmm bet you can't guess which colour it was...

Do you see Luka? She's another sweet gift from my sweet friend Brooke, Luka was her name written on her name tag. When I saw her name I said out loud 'My name is Luka, I live on the second floor' but my friend didn't know what I was talking about, I hope some of you do!

And Handsome Steve's coffee cup is now my favourite for my ever growing takeaway coffee cup collection, I'll save that post for another day!

So all my blue goodies were found at the Markers Market yesterday, oh and I was wearing blue too!

P.S. I hope I haven't stuck a certain song in your head!

kappaya and happiness

My friend Brooke introduced me to Kappaya last year and I fell in love with this cafe instantly. Brooke and I meet there today for coffee and cake before heading to the Makers Market at the Abbotsford Convent. It was there that Brooke spied her fortuitous heart in the beautiful corridors.

Thank you Brooke for my yellow mouse, I love her!

viva la craft

Today I finally made it to Craft Victoria to view Viva La Craft, a exhibition of craft experimentation by Chicks on Speed. It's amazingly bright and colourful and well worth a visit before it ends on the 24th of April.

You can also contribute your own thread and needle handiwork within the exhibition, it's a work in progress communal project but you have to be quick with only a week left!

megan whitmarsh

I've just discovered Megan Whitmarsh, an LA based artist who is partial to bright colours, a pencil, a needle and thread and a scrap of cotton. In addition to working with embroidery, Megan creates art in a range of genres, you can view more of her work here!

angry penguin

Last week when walking into the city I passed this rather articulate graffiti, it's without saying that I spent the rest of the walk imagining scenarios of who, how and when this graffiti ended up on the post.

In a happy coincidence Victoria has just posted about her happy graffiti finds, I can see the start of a flickr group!
