summer harvest

Before Christmas we planted some vegetable plants and this week we have started to see some of our Summer harvest. Four strawberries (already eaten with this morning's bircher), some magnificent looking carrots and some red chillies for the next hot meal. I did have some nice red tomatoes to show you also but the birds got to them before I had a chance to pick them from the vine. I think our next harvest will be in a week.

Angela, This is looking so good. The strawberries look delicious and those carrots will get bigger. In a couple of weeks they'll be longer and wider. No advice for the toms. The birds aren't attracted to ours, but then there's other things for them. Maybe a bird feeder to distract them from your harvest.

Yummo! Look at those lovely strawberries and carrots.
How exciting. I bet they taste good, homegrown stuff always tastes sooo much betterx

I love growing food in the garden - it's soooo exciting! I'm not surprised you already ate your strawberries - they would have been delish! :) I love your blog by the way!

oh this is wonderful...I think it is so great to have your own veggie patch...I just have a few pots on the balcony but it is so much fun to get the herbs from there..I miss good weather when I look at these pictures : )

nothing says " I grew it myself and isn't it great?" more than a deformed carrot! nice work!

Love that story about your ring. That's a weird thing when you lose them and you know they'll make their way back to you. I tend to know when I've lost something, that it's not really lost. Does that make sense?

The kids keep telling me the reason barely anything (except zucchini) makes it to the kitchen table, is because of the birds. Mmm Hmm. SO what explains the berry red fingers and tongues?
