i used to lurk

This is a post for those readers who have been contemplating starting a blog of their own.

You would often find me lurking here or over here, filling with inspiration and motivation to perhaps one day start a blog of my own. But what would I write about? Nobody would be interested in what I do, self doubt would be one of the first hurdles to overcome before I could begin my blogging adventure.

I eased myself into the blogging world by feeling comfortable with the fact that nobody knew I entered blogland, I was anonymous. My only reason to start my blog was to set myself the challenge of improving my photography skills so that maybe one day I could take photos just like those I admired on the blogs I read and to keep a visual journal.

I'm not much of a writer, infact I struggle with almost every post! But with my challenge of keeping a blog I'm sure along the way my writing has become a little easier and hopefully a little easier to understand.

Throughout my blogging journey I have meet some amazing friends and not to mention I've been given some amazing opportunities too. So, what I am really wanting to say is why not make the start of this financial year the time to start a blog and experience the joys of blogging! And when you do start your new blog be sure to drop by and say hello so I can come to visit and welcome you to blogland : )

I find it really funny because I think most of the people whose blogs I read began blogs in secret. There's this initial kind of apprehension about showing people you know things that you don't mind showing to strangers. It's an interesting kind of reaction.

I agree with T and you but it is a great pastime and has definitely improved the spontaneity of my writing.

I've been reading you blog for a little while now and really enjoy it - thank you. I am relatively new to blog land, I started in March this year and I'm loving it. I'm not fussed if anyone else is reading it, I love the record I now have of all that I've made.

Very much agree. I started a blog so that I could explore my writing a bit more and not get hung up over the concept of "Writing" and treating it like something rare and problematic. It does wonderful things for loosening you up. very much recommended.

lovely post. i can relate to you and T about the anonymous beginnings, its a funny thing. i think i was uncertain i could keep it up or if it was a passing fad that id soon forget about so didnt want to get ahead of myself incase it was. and like you mention, the writing bit is a constant struggle for my every post too.
i have been inspired by your blog and other lovelies for so long, you were part of the reason i started mine : )
three button is gorgeous. and i am loving open too!

I was a lurker for so long and finally felt brave enough to start my own blog. I can relate to many of you commenting here. To the anonymity and especially to the i'mnot surewhattosayandhowandifitisinterestingenough feeling. The way I see it is that I have grown fond of many bloggers. However, it makes me feel a bit like a stalker not to say anything so here I am. Hello! I enjoy reading your blog. It's was somehow comforting to read this particular post. Thanks!

I recently started a blog after much contemplation. Although it can be a bit of a challenge I am glad I did, I have "met" lots of new people and have found it has made me enjoy my crafty time so much more!

I only ventured into the blog world about a month ago, and have been following your blogs for about the same time and enjoy them very much and love the way you write! Funny though what a buzz you get from people you don't know leaving lovely feedback or following you, sort of makes me feel like I may even be 'interesting!' Ha Ha

Its funny how we go about things. But blogging really is (for me) a satifying and rewarding experience. I say to anyone thinking about giving a go "Go for it"

I had similar issues. I took forever to start a blog although I've always been interested. I kept worrying that no one would want to read it (maybe just my family 'cos I'll force them to ;p). But I've learnt that sometimes we just have to go ahead and make things happen. We never know what may come. I'm glad you started your blog because I'm enjoying it!

Thanks for your post Anglea. Its always good for new bloggers like me and others here to have a little place of their own to say something in a non-overwhelming and comfortable place. I have made a resolution to lurk less...

Those are two of the first blogs I started following, too. Still not writing a blog but I am crafting rather than simply reading and dreaming now. Thanks for keeping me inspired.

Hi, Lovely to hear I am not the Lone Ranger! Writing - ooo! I started a while ago, defiantly hard to get a flow. I love every little bit about the creative blog land out there though and might from time to time have something to contribute!? I have not got a clue how to do most of it, thankfully 'some' of the stuff is VERY OBVIOUS! If you are thinking of starting a blog.. Jump In!! No reason why not! x chele
