trade secret i forgot to mention

Thank you for all my 'speedy recovery' well wishes, I'm feeling much better today already!

Today when I was doing some sewing I remembered a trade secret that I wanted to share. Being the true bargain hunter that I am, ages ago I bought myself a packet of 10 white cotton rolls of thread for a bargain basement price. I thought I was a winner!

Well, since using up all my white reels I went and spoiled myself with an expensive reel of Gutermann thread. It is so beautiful to sew with! All the problems and frustration I was having with the other cheap cotton makes sense now. Trade secret - spend the money and buy good quality thread! : )

Tonight I updated the This Is blog roll! Hurrah! And I need to quickly invite a This Is player to suggest our theme for Sunday... I would like to ask Kept in a Jar for her suggestion.

Great trade secret, it's all the little things that add up. Good quality thread is a big little thing lol

At the risk of sounding totally conceited, I haven't made the blog roll :( Sorry to make a fuss about it, just thought I'd point it out.

Ta, Katie

That is an unusual way to injure one's neck..sleeping. But do be well, and take care of you.

I used Guterman years (40?) ago and I didn't keep on because I wanted the wooden spools for my little boys. Funny how priorities are at different stages of life.

Glad for those you included on the blogroll but darn it was already waaaay to long for me to do a good sampling already!

That is so true. I don't sew much, but I purchased some black thread about 2 weeks ago. It sucked. I threw it away and bought more.

I hate wasting things, so this is really not something I "do".

:)

Oh, and as handmaiden said, it's difficult to comment on the blog because it's restricted to blogger users.

Wonderful to read that you are feeling much better :-) Yes, I agree with your trade secret - good thread makes a heap of difference especially when you're sewing up softies that need to stand up to some rough play :-) I'm a big fan of Gutermann!

I think you are right about the good thread. I too have been battling with cheap rubbish.

I bought some cheap white cotton thread. I thought I had done so well. I could not find an end on any one of the 10 reels! Even with a sharp knife! Baffling and a total waste of pennies so I wish I had your tip 6 months ago! :-) t.x

Oh, I still remember the day I discovered the savour that is Gutermann!

Guttermann should be canonized for Sainthood, there's certainly been at least 3 sewing miracles in my house thanks to those threads.

Go Saint Guttermann!
