this is... my favourite book

I'm not a big fiction reader, my bookshelf says it all. It is crammed with books on sewing, japanese craft, illustration, design and software with a handful of biographicals and ofcourse there is the self help section.

One of my personal favourites from the bookshelf is my little Japanese book showcasing the illustrative work of Naitou Rune. Rune began his illustration work for female comic magazines in the 60's. I absolutely love his illustrations and I often pick up my little book to flick through atleast once a month for a good dose of visual inspiration.

Thank you Dees for your bookish suggestion this week. For next week I would like to ask a new blogger to the blog block Hip Hop and Banana Bread. Pop by and say hello!

I would like to suggest that for a one off next Sunday that as well as our 'This is' post we also show a Flashback Friday picture of ourselves pre-1985.

Umm, I wasn't alive in 1985, and all my dorky kiddy photos are at Mum and Dad's house. Sooo I'll post a pic of me from my year 12 retro day, which in spirit was pre-1985!

I was alive in 1985 - although I was 2 years old for most of it haha. Maybe just some old < 10yr old pics will be ok? I think I have one of me as a 4 or 5 yr old somewhere.

I couldn't have put it better myself. This book is a real treasure!

Well, a-hem, I was definitely around in 1985, in fact the photo in my book post this week is probably from about 83 or 84. Top years!

That is a lovely book. You reminded me of one of my favourite childhood books which slipped my mind when I was posting today. I might have to do another post about it.

Photos pre-85? Sounds frightening. Why not hey?

Such gorgeous illustrations!

I'm going to have to be a sticky beak with the Flashback photos though. Bascially, any photos pre-2006 are back in Australia. Can't wait to see everyone elses though ;)
