postcards from japan

The Inside Out blog is currently running a Postcards from Japan series involving those who have an affinity with Japan. I was asked to partake and to offer some favourite shopping spots and Tokyo highlights, you can read my Q & A right here.

On the subject of all things Tokyo, the very cute Pom Pom Parlour blog is currently featuring a Tokyo Cafes series. It's a must read for those heading over to Tokyo or those who are just waiting for one more nudge to buy that ticket!

P.S. (Over on Inside Out you will also find a Q & A, featuring the talented owner of Little Jane St)

new life, new mum

My new life as a new Mum has been sleepy, rewarding, challenging and all encompassing. What one would expect really. Luka now rewards us with big gummy smiles and baby coo's, it's all sooo cute!! He gave Daddy lots of little treats for Father's Day... pooey nappies... lucky Daddy.

I'm amazed everyday how local shop keepers and even strangers in the community all want help or love to say hi to Luka, it feels great to be part of such a great community. Just the other day I walked past a big burly council worker working away with his leaf blower, I needed to walk past him and I was hoping he would spot us and let us through. Thankfully he did and as we walked past he asked in a very clucky voice "How old?" when I told him he give a big sweet smile and said "Aww, brings a tear to me eye seeing 'em so little. Reminds me when my little girls were that young, gee they grown up fast ya know".

Luka is now close to six weeks and a big 4 kilos, the weight of a bag of navel oranges as the local fruiter tells me : )
