the plot thickens

Just when I was thinking to myself who could I contact that maybe interested in having a look at the Miss Australia photo collection I have, Violet & Rose kindly pointed out to me that there is an exhibition currently running at the Melbourne Museum - Miss Australia: A Nation's Quest. Well, I never... what are the chances of that! I honestly had no idea. I can't wait to go and have a look at the exhibition.

a scary ebay story

Today I received a parcel in the post, I recognised the username on the back of the parcel and thought to myself it was from a blogger that had arranged a mini swap recently.

When I opened the parcel I was totally amazed... how did she know I was looking out for Australiana tea towels? Perhaps Allison who very generously sent me some tea towels last week knew her and told her?? I was dumbfounded but very happy. Then I remembered I actually bidded for and won the tea towel on ebay last week...

It turns out that the beauty pageant photo collection I have here is infact a Miss Australia photo collection! Here I was thinking it was the local RSL fundraiser winner.

On Monday a parcel arrived from Superbuzzy, the trim that I had ordered came inside a popcorn gun man paper bag.

On Thursday my partner's father gave me some homegrown popping corn.

On Saturday I bought a vintage sewing patch from an antique shop and they popped it into a popcorn bag.

Another serendipitous story... and another beauty pageant!

I found the small signet ring I'm wearing in the back of a station wagon in 1976. Back then it could only fit on my middle finger then as the years went on it made it's way to it's permanent home, my little finger. Through out the years it has been lost and then found, bent and battered, neglected and then re-loved, used in clairvoyant readings, re-silvered, etched with the letter A and fitted with a new ruby twice. It's probable worth is $2.00 on ebay but it has a story and is my favourite accessory : )

Bricolagelife has started a 'found photo' meme, which has inspired me to join.

My partner's father used to do alot of work demolishing and refurbishing buildings, he has picked up a few things along the way like this framed photo of a beauty pageant from 1975. She is one of 10 framed beauty pageant photo's that he has kept. This photo is one of my favourites. I think I will photograph one a day so I can share the complete collection.

Have you heard that polaroid film is to be discontinued by the end of the year. Very sad news indeed and something to be aware of so you can stock up before it's gone forever.

Above is what has been snapped on my camera phone this week. I use my camera phone alot, it's not exactly the best quality but it's always on hand when something catches my eye. Maybe you could post what is on your camera phone too and we can come and have a peek?

I picked up some unopened retro decals from a secondhand shop not long ago. This particular decal reminded me of a flashback photo I remember seeing back in the days of Flashback Friday. After a little research last night I found the photo!

Today I went in search of The Classic Bicycle Shop located in downtown St Kilda. The shop is filled with the most amazing and beautiful classic bikes. I've got my eye on the seductive senorita above and I think on a less sun-blazing day I will go back for a test ride and fingers crossed a purchase!

As of tomorrow I will have Fabric Allsorts Pack's available via my shop for $10AUD plus postage. Inspired by licorice allsorts each fabric pack contains 100 grams of delicious fabric scraps perfect for adding too a log cabin cushion or baby quilt. Strips vary in width between 8cm - 2.5cm. You can see a preview of some fabrics from the front of the pack plus there is more tucked behind!

Yesterday a caught up with Allison for lunch and she generously gave me two of her new beautiful soaps. Too good to use ofcourse. When I arrived home after lunch my new owl soap dish had arrived. It was all very serendipitous!

I've also realised that I forget to mention who will be suggesting our 'This is...' theme for Sunday. I asked Poppalina if she would like to suggest something and she happily agreed.

When it comes to weekend meals I'm not afraid to 'outsource'. Weekends usually involve breakfast/brunch at a Melbourne cafe followed by sometimes an 'outsourced' dinner. For those who have seen the size of my very tiny kitchen you would understand why this is so.

Today was a beautiful Chickpea Salad from a beautiful cafe named Made. So beautiful infact that I couldn't resist taking photo's inside their cafe whilst having my camera with me.

It was time to clean out my photo files from my phone as I've been missing out on photo opportunities when my phone reads Memory Full at the most inconvenient times. Looking through the images I had taken with my phone I realized how much it was my portable electronic journal.
