My fabric arrived from kitty-craft today which I absolutely love. I equally love these tapes I discovered while visiting Patchwork on Central Park. I had to show them both with my new singer sewing machine that Franjo's dad picked up for me. He took me out to the back shed and said do you want this old sewing machine and I said "sure why not". She needs a once over before she is ready to purr. I think I will call her Betty!

soap dish

I have just bought myself an owl soap dish from this etsy seller here. I think it could go towards my somehow-without-me-realising it owl collection. It's strange how collections can do that, begin without you really knowing.

I'm excited to say that Leah has suggested 'This is... my collection' for our Sunday post. Visit Leah's blog for a great description of what she would like to see! I can't wait!

this is... what scares me

I had to cheat a little today as I couldn't take a photo of a plane. What scares me is flying, this is a primary reason why I have never made it overseas. I'm willing to conquer this and I do intend to fly overseas some day very soon. For now I have to see what the world looks like via google.

I would like to ask Leah from hyena in petticoats to finish the sentence 'this is...' for next weeks theme.

lady bird 3

Is it a bird, is it a plane... no it's lady bug 3!!

Gorgeous Brooke from BooBook Sausage Dogs came to visit me today. First we indulged in some delicious food at a South American inspired cafe and then it was back to the studio for an afternoon of Cat Power and Inspiration.

Thank you Brooke for a great day and for your awesome present! (stay tuned for a photo).

Tomorrow I will be attending my first ever baby shower, at 36 it's about time.

when i grow up

When I grow up I want to be an interior decorator, photographic stylist, photographer, botanist illustrator, visual merchandiser, a guitar player and florist. And ofcourse I absolutely love my job now! I've had my fair share of not so great jobs. I've always wanted to be so many things. What do you want to be? What are your dream jobs?

Thank you Jodie for this week theme. She has set a challenging one! This is... what scares me.

I've been thinking how I can sum this one up in a photo all week. I've got a couple of ideas. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with on Sunday!

hello and welcome

A big hello and welcome to all recently joined bloggers to 'this is...'

It's definitely not too late to join and you can join in at any time! I will posting the new theme on Wednesday and I hope to add all our new players to my blog link very soon. I think a flickr pool may also be in order. I will keep you posted!

Thank you for playing!!

i won i won

I just won an item on ebay, an item I have been watching for four days. It only cost $17 and 10 years off my life due to stress! I waited until 50 secs before the bid closed to make my move, it was all very frightening!

rain = procrastination

This weekend Melbourne has been rainy and overcast, the kind of weather that makes me want to potter all day when really I need to be doing alot of work!

this is my favourite cup

The early morning takeaway cafe latte cup, although I would much prefer a sit in and read the paper latte cup when time permits. I began drinking coffee over tea about three years ago and like a true addict I can't go without a morning coffee!

I would love to ask Jodie from Ric-Rac to finish the sentence 'this is...' for our theme for next week. Thank you to everyone who is playing, I can't wait to see everyone's photos! It's not too late to join in!

i like totally love my bluebirds

I picked up these cute little bluebird earrings today from Corky St Clair. I used to wear a pair just like these when I was younger. I wore them when I went on the Happy Sam TV Show! My ears haven't changed at all.

Thank you to everyone who is up for playing 'this is...' it's going to be lots of fun!! Feel free to join in if you haven't already. Leave a quick comment to say your playing and I can include you in the link list on Sunday. I'm off to enjoy my Friday night... reading blogs : )

brian dettmer

Brian Dettmer carves into books to create these amazing pieces of art. It's mind boggling work!

this is...

I would like to invite everyone to join in on another meme.

This is how it works!

Every Wednesday a theme is given for finishing the sentence 'this is...' And on Sunday you post a photo of that theme.

Examples are

This is my favourite cushion.
This is the oldest thing I own.
This is my kettle.
This is what I collect.

I'm going to start this week with 'This is my favourite cup"!

I hope you can all play!!

I've discovered a great blog all to do with colour. You should go and have a visit to see how beautiful and inspiring it is!

Monday, January 14, 2008

I got all excited last week when I arranged for a fabric rep to come to my house for a showing rather than me transporting myself over to Brunswick on a sometimes slow and frustrating transport system. Imagine all the time I would be saving I thought to myself! So before my 11am fabric appointment this morning I cleaned the house for two hours! I had to clean top to bottom, who knows if she needed to use the bathroom, or laundry or kitchen sink. In hindsight it may have been quicker for me to go to the showroom. Atleast my house is now sparkling!

I once knew of a woman who would clean the house before the cleaners arrived...

kay king

A couple of years ago when I went to help a friend pick up her wedding cake she told me that the lady's name who made the cake was called Kay King. Funny hey!

If you can resist temptation here is a blog all about cupcakes! A visual feast of treats!

busy times

January is proving to be a very busy month for me. It's the month of multi-tasking!

I would like to introduce you to Lauren Alane, the little cute owl pictured above is her creation. She has an Etsy store and blog that are both worth a visit. I hope to introduce some talented crafters through out the month.

Happy Wednesday!

japanese craft magazines

A little birdie recently told me that you can purchase Japanese craft magazines from Kanga Kanga, Level 5 Bourke House, 145 Russell St Melbourne. I went to Level 5 in the not-so-sure elevator and it's true, they do sell Japanese craft magazines!

tropical playground

Happy 2008! I love a new year, it always begins with renewed motivations and optimistic ambitions. This is going to be a good year!!

I had a fantastic holiday over Christmas, visiting in North Queensland. If you have never been to Magnetic Island I would highly suggest you do. It's a tropical paradise!!
