Earlier this week I spotted this very Euro looking bike for sale in a shop window on Mount Alexandra Road, Moonee Ponds. I thought to myself if I didn't already have my turbo injected, 100 gear, boost accelerated bike then I would like this one. After lurking over at Inside a Black Apple I had to share her latest painting above! Oh so stylish!!

Yipee!! It's Flashback Friday time again. Today's theme is 'You and Your PET'. My first photo is of me and my Grandparents pet Friska. And the second photo is of my family pet Scrumpy. Oh Scrumpy how I miss you, you scrumpidelicious doggy you! Although I didn't take this photo of Scrumpy, I seemed to be more taking the photo of Scrumpy rather than being in the photo with Scrumpy.

Looking through an old photo set today I came across some photos taken of earlier prototype miss buttons. This prototype design was one of my favourites! Miss Buttons has been tweaked and simplified since this photo was taken so she is easy to make by young and beginner sewers but I think I will bring out a new Miss with a look just like this one...

from my desk

When I was younger I used to daydream about going into people's houses to see what treasured possessions filled their homes. This could explain why I always rush out to buy the latest Inside Out magazine. I always love reading about the home owner and their treasures.

Remembering my past daydream has inspired me to start something! Titled 'from my desk'. Every now and then when sitting at my desk I will look at a corner or a pile and admire the arrangement or objects. And I will always think to myself I should take a photo. Well now I have.

I might be pushing my luck but I would love to see 'from your desk' too. Please leave a comment if you are in... and I will come and have a peep!

Update - I hadn't realise Hyena In Petticoats a very creative lady and the creator of Nong posted only on Tuesday 'photo your work surface'. Twice the reason to show us your space!

thrifted tuesday and so much more...

I picked up my pencil holder a while ago now. I thought it was quite the bargain at 20 cents. So little money, so much joy.

I have had an amazing week so far! To begin with I was the lucky winner of Brooke's housemate competition on Sunday. And today Claire from Ethel Loves Fred has nominated me as a Rockin Girl Blogger! Wow wee!



The hard part is nominating 5 other Rockin Girl Bloggers. Hard because there are so many Rockin Girl Bloggers to choose from! Ok so...

1. Pip from Meet me at Mikes. When a day goes past without a Pip post one wonders "i hope everything is ok". Pip has her fingers in many pots and still manages to update us with exciting posts regularly.

2. Arthur's Circus. New to blogland and doesn't she have the most beautiful photos on every post.

3. Belle and Boo. Her illustrations are a dream!

This weeks theme is 'what my mum did to my hair'. Well this was probably more what my brother did to my hair. Sneaky and cheeky kids that we were my brother painted my hair with white enamel paint just so my hair would be white like his! So off to the hairdresser Mum takes me and the only solution is to get a crew cut. Noice.

i spy

A little cupcake store opening soon 250 Flinders St, Melbourne. I also noticed the cupcake store was looking for staff. A floor person, a coffee barista and a baker assistant. I don't think I could be trusted working in a shop that is filled with cupcakes!

i used to draw

I miss drawing and painting. I re-discovered this ink painting I did in my hidden away drawing portfolio. I just couldn't imagine having the time to draw anymore but I think maybe I should find some time.

While I'm on the subject of food and apples on plates you really should have a peek at smitten kitten. Great food photography and styling and best of all recipes!

but it's my 'new' inspiration book...

I think I'm not alone when I say I always have an excuse to buy another 'new' inspiration book. The intention is to fill the 'new' book with cut outs, ramblings, sketches and inspiration. It usually begins well and then I spot a new book somewhere and I think "Wow I would be even more inspired to use this as my inspiration book" and the cycle keeps going.

I love a good coincidence story, I'm pretty sure everyone has one. Whenever I remember I always ask people what coincidences they have had... some stories are absolutely amazing!! I once bought a vintage suitcase about 12 years ago from an Op Shop. At the time I was living in a share house with three friends and their Mum. When I showed the Mum my new vintage suitcase she noticed straight away the name and address written inside and couldn't believe that the suitcase belonged to her best friend from her school years.

I would also like to tell you about a coincidence story I heard recently. A man bought a knitted wool jumper from an Op Shop. He wore his new jumper over to his Grandparents. The Grandmother instantly recognized that he was wearing the jumper she made for his Grandfather that they recently donated to an Op Shop. True Story!!

craft fairies exist

A mysterious Craft Fairy has been spreading joy and goodwill and I have been blessed to be on the receiving end of her generosity. On Friday I received a parcel and to my amazement and joy Miss Allsorts peeped out from inside my parcel. She was recently auctioned at the Genki Van and the kind winner wanted to see us together again so she secretly arranged our unexpected reunion! I was not the only lucky reunited crafter.

Smile! As you can see from this photo I was not at all happy that it was my 6th Birthday. From memory I think I received my precious all time greatest ballerina doll that day. Oh the simple pleasures!

I acquired and discovered all these treasures one day last week and it wasn't until I was home that I realised the very obvious elephant theme. I can hear my family and friends right now... 'Hurry up and have a baby already!'

fabric finds

I headed to Spotlight last night to buy some apple fabric, thank you to 62cherry for the tip off. While I was fossicking around I found some cute bluebird fabric in the fat quarters section. Now I will daydream all day about what crafty delight I shall make with my new fabric.

In my Sunday Best, although I'm not heading to church. Can't remember where I was heading but I remember I'm wearing my all time favourite dress that my Mum made me. Also my all time favourite love heart wooden bangle.

7 random things about me

I have been noticing alot of my personal emails have been automatically ending up in my spam folder. Once I had discovered this I sat down and found a treasure of misplaced emails. One such email was from Pei Pei, such a talented, talanted lady! She tagged me maybe 4 months ago for 7 things about me. So 4 months on here it is!

1. I left school in year 10 to become a motor mechanic, my application for an apprenticeship was declined by the Townsville City Council. I went back to school. I had never seen Neighbours as Townsville wasn't ready for it back then, so Charlene was not an influence of this decision.


2. When I was studying Psychology four years later, I failed Intro to Computing. (that sounds wrong).

3. I studied Graphic Art as a mature age student and won the title of Student of the Year in Graphic Art 2000.

4. I once bought a little duck from a market, took it home, filled up the bath tub and watched it paddle around the bath. My landlord said I couldn't keep the duck so I took it back to the market. (Is that wrong?)

5. Last week I spent ALOT of money on a Nancy Bird bag. (Is that wrong?)

6. My partner proposed to me this year on Boxing Day. I want to elope. (Is that wrong?)

7. A few years ago I filled out an application for a Spotlight membership, nobody was looking so I ticked Dr as my title. (Is that wrong?)
